Proctoring Services

The Portneuf District Library provides free proctoring services for all members of the community. For questions about proctoring or to schedule a proctored exam, please call or visit the library and speak with Josh. Please refer to the guidelines below when planning for your exam.
Before the Test
  • Proctored tests must be scheduled at least 24 hours in advance. We can not guarantee an appointment will be available, so recommend scheduling as soon as possible.
    • It is the student’s responsibility to know his or her institution’s policies and must state any special requirements to the proctor at the time of scheduling.
  • Tests may be proctored only during regularly scheduled business hours, as staff availability permits.
  • There is no charge for having an exam proctored other than any costs incurred while returning a test back to the institution.
  • Any email communication between the library, institution, and/or student must be sent through [email protected].

On the Day of the Test:
  • The student must present a valid photo ID
  • The proctor will take the student to a computer or desk to take his or her test.
    • Online tests must be administered on a library computer unless otherwise specified by the student’s professor/institution.
    • While the library does its best to provide a calm and quiet atmosphere for the student, we cannot guarantee complete silence.
      • If you are particularly sensitive to disturbances while taking a test, please inform the proctor at the time of scheduling.
  • All non-approved materials in the student’s possession (including cell phones) will be stored away from the student until the test is completed.
  • The proctor will periodically check on a student taking an exam. The proctor may constantly monitor an exam if required, but availability will be limited.
    • It is the student’s responsibility to know their institution’s policies and must inform the proctor of any special requirements when scheduling an exam.
  • Once the test is complete, the student will notify the proctor and turn over any testing materials. The proctor will then return any non-test materials back to the student.
  • The proctor will return the test to the institution either by mail or by email. The library does not offer faxing services.
  • Any fees involved in mailing tests back to an institution are the responsibility of the student.
    • If a test needs to be mailed, and an envelope is not provided by the institution, the student should come to the test with an addressed and stamped envelope.
